Euan’s Story
Euan is 22 and was born via traditional surrogacy.
“I had never thought too much about being born via surrogacy until I met my surrogate for the first time last year. I had the chance to meet my surrogate, Jill, when doing my final year project at University and didn’t realise until after it was finished how important it was for me.

The project gave me a real opportunity to delve deeper into surrogacy and understand what it was all about and what the process was like for my parents. I learned a lot about the law reforms and the opinions people had. It opened up my eyes to the world of surrogacy and how powerful it truly is.
My parents turned to surrogacy for a chance to build the family they wanted after my mother’s illness. I always knew I was born through surrogacy and that the way I was brought into this world wasn’t the same as the majority of people.
I thought it was pretty cool that I was born in a different way to the average person, and it is what I feel makes me unique.
Me and my brother were born to the same surrogate just one year apart from each other and without surrogacy, we wouldn’t be here today.
I had never struggled personally with the idea that I had no biological relation to my mother as she was the one who raised and nurtured me since I was born. Without my surrogate, I wouldn’t be here but without the upbringing from my mother, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. I understood that from a very young age.
Surrogacy has positively impacted my life and my parent’s lives and has helped me build connections with people I wouldn’t have met otherwise.
It’s something that has become even more important to me and I’m proud to be a voice within the surrogacy community. “
